Dr. Cassandra R. Farley Martin, she/her/hers

Dr. Cassandra Martin stands as a dedicated advocate for educational equity, boasting a strategic mindset and a proven track record of success across various roles—from classroom leadership to district administration positions. In 2020, she made history as the first Director of Equity and Inclusion for a mid-sized Southern school system in North Carolina, overseeing 35 schools, 5,000 employees, and 20,000 students. Following two impactful years in this role, Cassandra was selected, out of over 200 candidates, as a program implementation director at The College Board. Here, she supported district and school leaders nationwide in expanding access to high-quality instruction for students.

Cassandra's illustrious career includes two Teacher of the Year recognitions and a Teaching Fellow designation. Her expertise and commitment to education shine through various roles and three scholarships from Western Carolina University's Graduate School and Research faculty. As a doctoral student, she joined Phi Kappa Phi, a prestigious honor society, for her outstanding academic achievements, earning a doctoral degree in Educational Leadership with a concentration in Equity and Social Justice.

Her academic journey encompasses a Bachelor of Arts in English, a Master of Arts in Education with a focus on Teacher Leadership in Curriculum and Instruction, and a Master's Certification in Executive Leadership Studies, coupled with a PK-12 school administration license. Committed to continuous learning, Cassandra completed certification programs in Diversity and Inclusion Organizational Leadership from Cornell University and Family Engagement from Harvard University's Graduate School of Education.

This educational background complements her dedication to fostering equity and inclusion in education, a commitment reflected in her academic achievements and professional accomplishments. As an Education and leadership Executive and proud first-generation college graduate, Cassandra transcends the traditional boundaries of education, bringing strategic prowess, visionary leadership, and adept problem-solving to every endeavor. Her career, marked by awards and recognitions, showcases a dynamic force ready to drive positive transformation across industries. Onward!

As a school-based coordinator and liaison, I was consistently empowered by Mrs. Martin's transformational leadership. She was an active participant in our weekly PLC meetings where we reviewed our school-wide data and planned for meaningful professional development series. Mrs. Martin supported our efforts by securing high-quality professionals who provided on-going professional development training to our staff both in-person and virtually. As a result of Mrs. Martin's leadership, our school culture has improved and our staff is receptive to learning how to improve their teaching practice with a lens of social justice and equity top of mind.
